Why prices vary so much
The monthly cost of GLP-1 weight-loss treatment depends on:
- Brand-name vs. compounded medication. Brand-name products (Wegovy, Zepbound) are FDA-approved; compounded versions are prepared by licensed pharmacies and are not FDA-approved.
- What's included. Some prices cover only medication; others include the provider evaluation, follow-ups, supplies and shipping.
- Dose-based pricing. Some programs raise the price as your dose increases.
- Insurance and manufacturer programs. Coverage for weight-loss use varies widely; some manufacturers offer self-pay pricing.
Typical price ranges (2026)
| Option | Typical monthly cost without insurance | |---|---| | Brand-name GLP-1 (weight management) | Several hundred to over $1,000 depending on product and program | | Compounded semaglutide program | Often roughly $100–$300 | | Compounded tirzepatide program | Often roughly $150–$400 |
Ranges are approximate and change frequently — always confirm the current price before you start.
